STAGE: TORPEDO SERENADE

As World War II begins, the last passenger ship desperately heads for home. This is a play Dad and I wrote for Hyland Christian School. The students are doing a great job. The performances will be this weekend on March 11th and 12th.
The story takes place on the S.S. Minerva, a passenger ship carrying a variety of people. A group of musicians hired to entertain the passengers become involved in espionage.
The set is probably one of the most elaborate sets ever built for Hyland. The climactic point involves a combination of several elements to pull off a fun special effect. This play required two of the actors to learn a musical instrument they’ve never played before. Four actors had to learn to speak several German phrases. And there are two original songs written specifically for the play, performed live by five of the actors.
