LOST FINAL SEASON—ESSENTIALS

I’m going to try and reduce all the details of the six seasons down to just the essentials. The basic idea is to offer up specific themes or events that are undeniably vital to the show’s plot, either because they appear often throughout or because there is other strong evidence to suggest they are key to the story. Please submit your own suggestions. {SPOILERS for those who have not seen the first four episodes through "The Substitute"}
THERE ARE TWO SIDES—BLACK AND WHITE
Locke tells Walt that backgammon is oldest game in the world; found in ruins of Mesopotamia (5,000 years old); dice were made of bones, 2 players, 2 sides, one is light, one is dark; Locke describes the game Mousetrap, emphasizing it has two opponents
THE NUMBERS
4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42 which are now directly associated with specific people
ADAM AND EVE
the skeletons found in the cave—with black and white stones in pouch—had been “laid to rest” 40 to 50 years before (that would put their death around 1960)
QUARANTINE
the word “quarantine” was on the inside of the Swan Hatch door; Rousseau said the Others were “carriers”; Dogen has warned Jack that Sayid is “infected” or “claimed."
CHOICE vs. DESTINY
Jack vs. Locke maintains this concept; Locke says "all roads lead here"; Daniel emphasizes "what happened, happened"
AARON
the psychic was extremely concerned that Claire might not raise her son; in Claire's nightmare, Locke says that if she doesn't raise the child "everyone pays the price"

Oh wow- never thought about the whole quarantine thing. Any idea about why Sayid would be infected? Will Walt make a reappearance? He seemed so significant! And what was with his "powers" anyway?

Ps. You're such an English teacher.

Thanks to Betsy for the CHOICE vs. DESTINY angle.
